BLOG: Empowering the individuals to Unite.

We live in a time of collectivism and globalism. The push to label, separate, and divide is growing weekly. Separating people by race, skin color, beliefs, political persuasion, and even according to clothing and speech has become the norm. Last week, actress Sydney Sweeney was trending on Twitter after a party for her mom’s 60th birthday. The guests dared to wear hats that said, “Make Sixty Great Again,” which looked suspiciously similar to ‘Make America Great Again’ hats. The only greater sin was a photograph of Sydney’s mother and grandmother next to a male wearing a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt.

The actress’s response that it “was not the intention” and to “please stop making assumptions” tells me that she is probably on the wrong side of these perfectly acceptable movements anyways. However, the more significant issue is what we have become as a country. In this situation, these guests simply had fun with a well-known slogan, and the keyboard warriors couldn’t handle it. I guess Marxists have lost their sense of humor.

Besides the obvious, Make America Great Again, and Blue Lives Matter shouldn’t even be controversial in the first place, especially since they are often worn in response to completely un-American ideologies. This incident exemplifies a few significant issues that will not end well for the country if they don’t stop immediately. This growing trend of labeling everyone into a box, immediately demonizing them, and then going one step further and trying to silence them is a dangerous road. It is one we have seen play out historically in Germany, China, and other fascist and communist regimes.

People want to belong to a group. People wear specific clothing, connect with certain groups and resonate on certain social platforms because of this drive to belong. However, the division only deepens when this becomes an ‘us versus them’ environment. These differences are not the issue; the problem is that what used to unite us is no longer there. America is a melting pot, a collection of unique individuals united under one flag. The national motto of the United States, E Pluribus Unum, “Out of Many, One,” is the best example of this truth. We are distinctly different but united as fellow Americans.

Sadly, this is rarely understood and more often attacked as though this reality is some antiquated concept to destroy. Two seemingly opposite things are occurring at the same time. The individual and their autonomy are under attack, ridiculed, and eliminated, while simultaneously, the concept of unity among the people is also under attack. The modern idea is that you must be part of the collective that thinks, acts, and operates within the accepted paradigm, or you are too dangerous to exist.

We have seen many examples of this in recent weeks; however, one of the most telling and dangerous is the constant rhetoric from President Biden. Just this week, he again made statements vilifying half the country. Joining Democratic nominees and their dislike for so-called ‘MAGA Republicans,’ Biden stated, “I respect conservative Republicans. I don’t respect these MAGA Republicans.” Besides the time that it would take to dissect what this even means. Coupled with other recent statements, we can assume that the President of the United States dislikes half the country. That is a problem when you are a so-called leader.

The answer to all of this lies in a counter-cultural response. We must choose to be individuals and respect the autonomy of others. We also must band together as individuals and strive towards being one people, under one flag, as citizens of this great nation. I never thought I would see the day when simply being an American was radical, but in a growing sea of Marxists and Globalists that have infiltrated this country like cancer, be radical, be different, be you, and be American.
