Wayne Mulder
Welcome, my friend, to the On the Blue Line podcast for law enforcement with Wayne Mulder. I am your host, You guessed it. Wayne Mulder. And this is the podcast where we help law enforcement officers overcome the mental health, told the profession to become better leaders and protectors on and off the job. This is the 104th episode of the podcast, specifically Morning Roll Call.
00:00:29:14 - 00:00:46:13
Wayne Mulder
And today we discuss Oliver Anthony strikes the right chord and upsets the out of Touch two stories that confirm Oliver Anthony's tone is not wrong. And finally, a story that gives me hope for all the right reasons. Morning Roll Call starts now.
00:00:46:15 - 00:00:52:11
Because, you know it's only going to get scary seasons when.
00:00:52:15 - 00:00:56:12
Wayne Mulder
You break the law. If you decide to do this, we're going to hold you responsible.
00:00:56:12 - 00:01:00:13
You are the only good thing. It's someone's worst day.
00:01:00:14 - 00:01:02:12
Wayne Mulder
That is a privilege for a police officer.
00:01:02:12 - 00:01:07:25
At the very least, you could honor the sacrifices of police officers and their families.
00:01:08:02 - 00:01:32:25
Wayne Mulder
We have the ability to save the Republic. So welcome. This is Morning Roll Call. We do two podcast of the On the Blue Line podcast currently and morning roll Call releases every Monday. And it's just you and I, it's the monologue show. Honestly, it is by far in the numbers also the most popular so hopefully you're enjoying it.
00:01:32:25 - 00:01:50:18
Wayne Mulder
We want your feedback whatever. If you are a podcast listener to the show, if that's how you listen to it, if you would, a five star rating is huge and I'd love to see your feedback and we'll probably get back to reading some of those on the air here in the coming weeks if you do not follow us on social media.
00:01:50:18 - 00:02:10:19
Wayne Mulder
I'm most active on X, which if you have no idea what that is, it was previously Twitter and it's on the blue line and the number one app on the blue line and the number one honestly that it's probably the least popular among the listener. So you're like, Well, how does that work? Exactly? So we are also on Instagram and all the others that are on the Blue Line podcast.
00:02:10:19 - 00:02:31:00
Wayne Mulder
Honestly, the reason I'm most active on X is because it seems to be the greatest source for news, so it's much easier to push out information, gather information, and do what this podcast is meant to be by being in that location, because that's where they are, even though a lot of you, the listeners are not. It's a very interesting dynamic, but we'll figure it out.
00:02:31:02 - 00:02:50:28
Wayne Mulder
Be sure to leave us that rating and review. And then lastly, we'd love your feedback. Feel free to email me at feedback at on the blue line dot com. It's feedback at on the blue line dot com new interview room which is the other style podcast we do will come out this Thursday and check that out. Those are literally interview shows long format typically around an hour.
00:02:50:28 - 00:03:10:17
Wayne Mulder
Sometimes they go a little bit longer and they can be on a variety city of topics. Honestly, this last two weeks was a little bit political, but I think we had a really important conversation because whether you like it or not, and based on some of the feedback I get, I'll go with you. Don't Politics affects law enforcement, period.
00:03:10:19 - 00:03:33:28
Wayne Mulder
It is super important. So unfortunately, unfortunately pending, if it's something like talking about it has got to be a part of the narrative because as we're about to discuss, things are not looking up and that seems to resonate with people. So unless you've been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks and maybe you do, hopefully it's nice and comfortable, maybe it's a little cool under there, maybe you're like a mushroom.
00:03:33:28 - 00:03:51:22
Wayne Mulder
You like cool dark spaces. I don't know. Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know who Oliver Anthony is, or you have at least heard his song Rich Men north of Richmond. But to just kind of trigger your memory here, listen to just a little bit of this popular song.
00:03:51:25 - 00:04:02:26
I've been selling my soul walking home they over time hound for bullshit pay so I can sit out here and waste my.
00:04:02:26 - 00:04:08:08
Half way dragged back home and down my troubles away. It's a.
00:04:08:08 - 00:04:10:19
Damn shame what the world's.
00:04:10:19 - 00:04:29:10
Wayne Mulder
Gone too. So as with so many things, I really love it. I like that bluegrass style I like it kind of reminds me a little bit of like a Chris Stapleton, maybe a little bit of a Jamey Johnson vibe in there. You've got that blues feel as well. I don't know. I just really like it. And the song is fantastic.
00:04:29:10 - 00:04:59:18
Wayne Mulder
In fact, the lyrics are fantastic, probably the best thing about the song is it's upsetting all the right people because you have the pretentious liberal elites and surprise, surprise, the Richmond north of Richmond don't seem to really care for the song. And then on the other side of it there is if you heard those lyrics, you know, he's talking about, I've been selling my soul, working all day overtime hours for bullshit pay so I can sit out here and waste my life away, dragged back home and down my troubles away.
00:04:59:21 - 00:05:31:10
Wayne Mulder
And in some of the conversations he's had, he's talked about his struggle, the struggle he's had with addiction and so forth. And it's I think this song is resonating with people. I know it resonates with me because this is how we feel. You feel helpless right now. There are so many things going on in this world where it's like it's even when I kind of hinted on, you know, when I talk about politics around acts, when I get involved in some of these conversations and at the end of the day, people are like, well, what can I do about it?
00:05:31:13 - 00:06:03:18
Wayne Mulder
But I just don't know what to do. You know? I just feel I feel helpless. And I think that that feeling resonates with people. The other thing is, is people see the insanity, right? We see, you know, where people are struggling to pay their bills. Even the listeners of this show, I struggle. I'm sure you're struggling and you're struggling to pay your bills while meanwhile, we've got money going to all sorts of things depending on where you're at with the Ukraine war, depending on where you're at with your opinion on other things.
00:06:03:20 - 00:06:22:06
Wayne Mulder
We're just pouring money out left and right. And then it seems like when people really need money, as he alludes to in the song, those are the people you know, he's got Lord, we've got folks on the street ain't got nothing to eat but the obese, our milk and welfare. And I think it just resonates with what we're spending all this money on the wrong thing.
00:06:22:06 - 00:06:45:10
Wayne Mulder
Right. Look at just this last week. Now it's gone up a little bit. But for this travesty, this tragedy that's taking place in Maui, I don't know if you I'm sure you've been watching it, but there's a lot of like Samaritan's Purse and some private organizations that are doing great things over there. But the government initially wanted send like $750 per person, which that's a different conversation.
00:06:45:10 - 00:07:03:18
Wayne Mulder
I'm not a fan of the federal government being involved in these things. I come very much more from the Calvin Coolidge School of thought on these, but because because it's not that people don't need help, but for the very reason we're just discussing here, they're absolutely horrible on determining where your money should go and when they're the ones in charge.
00:07:03:18 - 00:07:34:17
Wayne Mulder
It's really only going to benefit these Richmond, north of Richmond. Whose responsibility is it? Well, it's the church's responsibility. It's the community's responsibility. It's families responsibility, it's, you know, so forth and so on. Depending on one's worldview, it's certainly not the federal government's responsibility. However, you can't be sending billions to Ukraine when we have a problem right here in our own border or it right here in a state in the United States, and we're not helping those people.
00:07:34:17 - 00:07:49:15
Wayne Mulder
So I think that people see this and it just angers us. So Richmond, north of Richmond, great song. However, just this week. And the reason I'm bringing it up, because this was actually a couple of weeks ago, he just released a new song I Want to Go Home. So here's just a little bit of that one.
00:07:49:17 - 00:08:13:09
I have one for my hometown saying, Good Lord, they'd have me strung up in psych ward calls every day living in this new world one too many days. The me son, we're on the brink of the next World War and I don't.
00:08:13:11 - 00:08:19:05
Think is praying no more. And I ain't saying I.
00:08:19:05 - 00:08:21:23
Know it for sure. I'm just down.
00:08:21:23 - 00:08:27:05
On my knees begging Oh, take me home.
00:08:27:08 - 00:08:47:09
Wayne Mulder
Good stuff, huh? I think it's a great follow up. And it went to well over like a million views on the first day. So fantastic stuff. But, you know, I think the lyrics again. Well, if if it wasn't for my old dogs and good Lord, they'd strung me up in a psych ward. Because every day living in this new world is one too many for me.
00:08:47:12 - 00:09:12:28
Wayne Mulder
There is a pair, there's a sentence in the when he gets to it later on in the chorus where he sings Seven generations farm in the ground, grandson sells it to a man from out of town. Two weeks later, the trees go down, only got concrete. Growing around that hit me that I definitely am an old soul living in a new world and I don't like it in that paragraph, that sentence.
00:09:13:00 - 00:09:26:17
Wayne Mulder
That is exactly what we have going on here, and I'm sure it's like that across the country. But here in the state of Florida, they we take cow pasture and we turn it into neighborhoods for as far as the eye can see. And then we name the streets after it. Everything named ranch around here doesn't have a darn cow in it.
00:09:26:20 - 00:09:52:21
Wayne Mulder
It's just simply we're just going destroy the land and we're going to pop in houses and we're not going to stop. And in Florida, you don't have things that slow them down like, say, rocks, mountains, winter. You don't have any of those things. So they just clear cut and go faster than you can. You can't even imagine unless you're in other places like Arizona, Texas and some of these other southern states where they have the same thing, they can just clear cut the land and just move as fast as the machines will take them.
00:09:52:24 - 00:10:11:14
Wayne Mulder
So I think he continues all of our Anthony continues to strike a chord. And now some people are making the argument, well, it's depressing. I don't like his tone. It makes me feel bad. Well, I think we have reason to be depressed, right? We have reasons. There are things that I am concerned about and I think you are concerned about.
00:10:11:16 - 00:10:33:12
Wayne Mulder
And one of those things is the lack of concern and apathy and just straight up foolishness. So I don't know if you've seen this news story yet, but this is just completely bizarre. So at first I thought this was something straight out of the Babylon bee like this. This had to be satirical, right? So I was like, Oh, this can't possibly be serious.
00:10:33:14 - 00:11:10:24
Wayne Mulder
It was serious. So here's the headline. Chicago Democrat asks Gang members to Refrain from shootouts between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.. Yeah, yeah. No, that that's what it says. Chicago Democratic Alderwoman Maria Hayden asked gang members to refrain from shootouts between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to reduce the risk of people not involved in high risk activities. So in other words, we're not really asking you to stop your gang activity and we know you're going to shoot each other anyway, and we are the murder capital.
00:11:10:24 - 00:11:35:03
Wayne Mulder
So all those things are true. You guys just wins the bullets by. Go, go, go, go, go. The only thing I ask is that you just do it at night so that maybe if you hit a stray kid, the kid will be inside the house, sleeping in their bed rather than out on the street during the day where the civilian casualty, you know, there would be more of them, huh?
00:11:35:05 - 00:11:56:13
Wayne Mulder
How about we throw them in jail with lifetime sentences? And quite frankly, I'm not a big fan of lifetime sentences. At some point, I think death penalty comes into play. But anyway, what these people need to be gotten off the road. There needs to be repercussions. We need to be enforcing these laws. We need to have a no tolerance policy.
00:11:56:15 - 00:12:17:07
Wayne Mulder
You go out here shooting at each other and you're going to go away forever. Problem solved. Have a nice day. What in the heck? Yeah. No. Instead, we're just going to we're going to create a treaty with them. And since since you guys are stand up guys and since you follow all the rules. Anyway, let's just meet in the middle, right?
00:12:17:12 - 00:12:52:27
Wayne Mulder
So let's sit down here, and we're just going to have this little treaty here, and we will agree that you're not going to shoot between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Monday through Friday and possibly on how absolute foolishness, absolute and foolishness. And then you wonder why people resonate with songs like or Anthony. It's a great song, but he's pulling onto these emotional strings of people that are like, these people got elected, they're in charge of something, they're supposed to be running something and they are absolute ends.
00:12:53:00 - 00:13:22:18
Wayne Mulder
Second story that makes me a little bit really makes me kind of negative and jumping to that depressing sound. That's an Oliver Anthony songs. Now this is a commentary, but the danger of driver equity laws in Pennsylvania. So we're seeing more and more of this crap, right This reverse racism and to be extremely clear, because I just don't want I just don't want there to be any confusion.
00:13:22:18 - 00:13:46:05
Wayne Mulder
And, you know, I like to talk plainly and I know sometimes I use big words. So let me be extremely clear here. If you are doing something that's considered reverse racism, it's racism. So if you could switch the names, if you could switch the titles. So if you could put another race in there and you'd be like, oh.
00:13:46:07 - 00:13:47:29
That's racist.
00:13:48:01 - 00:14:18:14
Wayne Mulder
Then what you're doing is racist. So just to be extremely clear, because there seems to be confusion on this, all the AI stuff mostly is equity laws. Most of this are just straight up racism, but there's a lot of bigotry in there, too. And you know, some other fancy words we come up with. So in the early morning hours of March 30th, 2022, an innocent victim was suddenly attacked while he was putting the trash out of his place of work in Bensalem, a long street road victim ran for his life but was eventually caught by his attacker.
00:14:18:17 - 00:14:38:29
Wayne Mulder
He was viciously stabbed over 50 times as he tried to resist. The assailant fled as the victim struggled to stay alive in the parking lot, and he returned to his vehicle, ran the victim over twice, abducted him and drove off. The Bensalem police received a911 call, about 6 hours later when an employee arrived at work and discovered clothing and blood in the parking lot.
00:14:39:01 - 00:15:04:08
Wayne Mulder
Over the next 48 hours, the Bensalem Police Department, and with the assistance of the district attorney's office, FBI, etc., they worked together and they identified the victim as Michael Pickens, an employee of a local restaurant on Street Road. The initial investigation led police to believe the attacker was a Dominique Harris, a former employee of the same restaurant through video surveillance helpers, license plate readers, intersection cameras.
00:15:04:10 - 00:15:28:21
Wayne Mulder
They were able to determine the route that he fled in this vehicle and he headed south Philadelphia. Information was shared with surrounding jurisdictions. The vehicles entered into NCIC, National Criminal Intelligence Center for those not law enforcement as wanted. And the patrol corporal discovered the deceased body of Pickens in the brush along Cornwell's Heights Park and ride. Harris had dumped the body of Pickens as he fled after the murder.
00:15:28:24 - 00:15:52:25
Wayne Mulder
Within 24 hours to 35th District, Philadelphia police officers stopped the vehicle, driven by Harris Harris's criminal acts and his vehicles involved were not known to them. They stopped Harris from improper display of his vehicle's registration plate. They observed fresh blood stains on the vehicle and in the rear seat and then checked the identification number and discovered this vehicle was wanted by Bensalem police as part of the homicide investigation.
00:15:52:27 - 00:16:11:22
Wayne Mulder
So obviously, Harris was arrested and then he was charged with this murder. Prior to the trial, Harris's attorney attempted to have all the evidence. So this is that whole fruit of the poisonous tree, Right. Or, you know, they try to go through some sort of suppression hearing so that they can suppress part of the evidence to help their client out because it doesn't come out of trial.
00:16:11:24 - 00:16:41:05
Wayne Mulder
Maybe there won't be enough to get to a conviction. They wanted to have everything located in the vehicle suppressed on the basis that the initial traffic stop was in violation of the City of Philadelphia's Driver Equity Ordinance. This ordinance prohibits officers from enforcement of eight minor traffic offenses, one of which is improper display of a registration plate. That motion was rightfully rejected by Judge Raymond McHugh, and he was later found guilty and so forth.
00:16:41:05 - 00:17:03:04
Wayne Mulder
But the question that they're bringing up here and what is concerning is because you're seeing more and more of this. I mean, you're you're already seeing what's happening with imprisoning our political opponents that happened this last week. So let's not even pretend like this isn't a thing and that justice is always blind in 2023, that if that's where you're starting from, we got a lot of work to do.
00:17:03:09 - 00:17:24:09
Wayne Mulder
So let's go back to this here. But the question that this commentary is asking, it's the right question is what would have occurred if this case had been held in Philadelphia? Would they have granted the motion to suppress? Would it have been considered justice? So these proactive patrols, the the driver's equity ordinance was enacted 27 days prior to the murder of Perkins.
00:17:24:09 - 00:17:48:08
Wayne Mulder
It's likely the officers didn't fully grasp the restrictions law yet. Either way, the problem is it will either cause officers to look the other way when they observe legitimate violations of the state motor vehicle code or take their chances of stopping a vehicle to only have it dismissed. And possibly there's going to be ramifications to them for violating the ordinance.
00:17:48:10 - 00:18:25:00
Wayne Mulder
Absolutely ridiculous. Anything that's being done under the name of equity is typically very, very bad, both for society and for all of us. So I've given you two cases of things that are potentially negative, right, that are just horrible and they highlight things that are going on in the justice system across this country. And we have a real constitutional crisis, but we also have people are suffering, they're hurting, you know, car prices.
00:18:25:03 - 00:18:45:27
Wayne Mulder
You've got some of the highest car prices, some of the highest use car prices since, I think 2017. I don't have those numbers in front of me. The highest new car prices ever. Look at what it cost to buy a house right now. And I know I'm preaching to the choir because you're going through this, too. I mean, I have my 21 year old son still living at home pretty much, because what are they going to do?
00:18:45:27 - 00:19:07:14
Wayne Mulder
They can't go out and buy a vehicle right now and buy a house and buy because these rates are going through going through the roof. In fact, there was an article this last week that talked about how when the rate the dollar amount, that when people say, hey, I'm interested in this job and this is the minimum salary that I can take, right?
00:19:07:16 - 00:19:33:03
Wayne Mulder
That number has gone to $80,000 because that's essentially the bare minimum where people can almost pay the bills. And as any of you know who are listening, this that number is if it's a single income. That's probably not true, depending on what part of the country you're in. Definitely in some of these southern states. And I can guarantee you in places like New York and places like California, that number absolutely will not allow you to buy a house, buy a car and so forth.
00:19:33:05 - 00:19:57:29
Wayne Mulder
So that's the frustration. Right. And that is what Oliver Anthony tapped into. He tapped into this this frustration that we're all feeling with this country where we have these out-of-touch bureaucrats, these out-of-touch Richmond, North of Richmond, that just are doing their own thing. Even the Republican debate this last week. Right. I don't know if you had a chance to watch it.
00:19:58:01 - 00:20:25:15
Wayne Mulder
There were some highlights in it. There were some really good things. But you heard a lot of like 1980s talking points. It's like, wake up, guys. We're literally talking an existential crisis right now. And you guys are sitting here arguing whether or not we're going to be warmongers or not. What in the world is wrong with you? And that is what people are hopefully starting to wake up to and what people are starting to feel this angst.
00:20:25:15 - 00:20:58:06
Wayne Mulder
And they're like, well, what do we do? Well, I'm not going to leave you there because to me the what do we do? Question has to come down to something that gives you hope, right? And as much as all of our Anthony Song resonated with me, I like how he writes it from a point of where he was right, where he talks about those dark days and he yeah, he kind of feels like, you know, what are we going to do?
00:20:58:06 - 00:21:17:16
Wayne Mulder
And in the music emotionally draws you into that moment. But then just the other day, as I was preparing to go through this podcast and to have this Morning Roll Call, I came across this story, which many of you have seen. It's gone viral a few times, and I think someone had even told me about it and then I ended up reading the whole thing.
00:21:17:19 - 00:21:21:05
Wayne Mulder
But here, let's watch this Tik Tok video real quick.
00:21:21:08 - 00:21:36:22
I did my debut novel. It's about a teenage girl who teams up with a ghost with multiple personalities to solve the mystery of her parents murder. Oh, that's awesome.
00:21:36:25 - 00:21:58:00
I love to read it. Do you mind if I take a picture of the book? No, go right ahead. It's on Amazon dot com and Barnes and Noble dot com. Are you selling it right now or. Yeah, you could pay for it at the register when you check out Awesome. Cool. How much is it? 1795. I'll definitely check it out.
00:21:58:03 - 00:22:00:13
Yeah I really like guy.
00:22:00:16 - 00:22:05:01
You live in Fort Worth? I live in Arlington. Arlington. Pretty close. Pretty close. I think I'll.
00:22:05:01 - 00:22:06:12
Definitely check it out.
00:22:06:15 - 00:22:10:27
I'm interested and you know, I would love to support a local author, so.
00:22:10:29 - 00:22:30:23
We all appreciate that. Yeah, of course. Well, thanks for letting me know. What made you what made you want to do murder mystery? Oh, I just always loved mysteries. Grew up reading them. I do a little bit of Tik tok and whatnot, so I think I might go ahead and get a second one. I'm going to get it on there and see if we can get you a little bit of love on there.
00:22:30:26 - 00:22:43:00
Okay. I won't say no. Yeah, same thing. Just sign it. Yeah, if you just sign it. And that way it's a little bit more personal to whoever gets it.
00:22:43:03 - 00:23:03:18
Wayne Mulder
So what you're watching here is just. Just a neat story. So this Texas veteran, right? So he's at this store, he's trying to sell these books. He he was in the military. He he's obviously much older, as you can see. And this is his first book. And he's you know, he's a kid. He had the pencil and he he loved to write.
00:23:03:18 - 00:23:20:06
Wayne Mulder
And he it was something he always wanted to do. And you know how it is. You get busy. And I can tell you just from trying to do this, the amount of hours that you pour into it. So he's in this store and he's like trying to sell this book and, you know, copy here, copy there. He's got it out on Amazon.
00:23:20:09 - 00:23:43:27
Wayne Mulder
And this guy comes through who is a TikTok video guy. I've never even heard of him, the Swearengen. And he starts talking with him just like you see in that video there. And he's like, Hey, do you mind if I get to sign copies of this? And I'm just going to take some video here. And then if you don't mind, I'll give a book away and the guy was like, Sure.
00:23:43:29 - 00:24:10:12
Wayne Mulder
So the next day he gets these two books and Warner, the old man we see there, the the author, he's like, Hey, I was just a little weary, right? I'm just sitting there and this guy came over. He's happy. And I was just happy to have someone to talk to. Right? We have this great conversation. Well, that video was has been seen over 21.4 million times and has surpassed 3.6 million likes.
00:24:10:15 - 00:24:27:28
Wayne Mulder
So on Sunday night, this is Warner talking. He's like my wife and I, our phones just start buzzing with notifications from people. They're signing up to my website, they're ordering my books. And we were like, It's been kind of dormant up until this point. What is going on? So they get with their daughter, right? Because she's the tech savvy one.
00:24:27:28 - 00:24:56:24
Wayne Mulder
She's the one that can actually help answer some questions. And she's like, Dad, your video is going viral. And he's like, Oh, that's wonderful. What is viral me? And so he she explains to him, she goes, That interaction that you had with this complete stranger, it blew up. And here he is. He fly. They go up to the top of the Amazon bestseller list, and the rest is history and his debut novel that he's been dreaming of since he was six years old.
00:24:56:24 - 00:25:22:27
Wayne Mulder
On the floor of his bedroom with a pencil and a tablet is now skyrocketed due to this one interaction where a perfect stranger, a guy with a following is just walking through a store one day. And here's this old man sitting there with a handful of books in front of him, his life dream. See, he swears and then know this Jared swearing guy.
00:25:22:27 - 00:25:43:10
Wayne Mulder
He he didn't know this guy's story. He didn't know that this is something that he wanted to do since he was like six years old. And then instead, you know, he went off to, I believe, the 82nd Infantry. He was in the Airborne Division. He went on to be a software engineer. He worked in computer science. He became a home school teacher.
00:25:43:12 - 00:26:01:24
Wayne Mulder
Just the salt of the earth guy. Right. Raised a family, obviously has an adult daughter. And in this moment, this Jared SPURGEON guy who's got a following, sees him in the store and is like, you know, this guy just seems to be having a bad day. Maybe I can give him, you know, just a little bit of props here.
00:26:02:00 - 00:26:21:22
Wayne Mulder
Maybe maybe I can just uplift them a little bit. I can give him a little bit of hope and just be kind. In fact, Warner said, I think that's the message and I'm quoting just how big of an impact kindness can have. And that's what it was. It was just kindness, right? It was just in the moment. He's like, Hey, what can I do to help this guy?
00:26:21:25 - 00:26:45:10
Wayne Mulder
And I don't think either of them knew the impact of that interaction. And then when you think about the tertiary effects of it here I am telling you about this story of hope and think about all the people that have seen it. This comes from Fox News. So think of all the people that have seen this story in the many times that gets told over and over and over again, and it gives people a little bit of hope.
00:26:45:12 - 00:27:11:09
Wayne Mulder
And what's the hope? Well, the hope is that human interaction, it's that kindness to our fellow man. You know, like I mentioned just briefly, that we had the Republican debate this last week and obviously, I feel that you cannot do a show like what I'm trying to build without talking a little bit about politics, because politics directly impacts law enforcement and anything negative that happens.
00:27:11:09 - 00:27:37:06
Wayne Mulder
Law enforcement's going to be involved in actually doing it. If you think about it, even the complete ridiculousness that occurred last Wednesday and Thursday in Georgia, they were booked by law enforcement. Those photos, our law enforcement agencies. So my point remains the same. But it's so easy to get depressed when you look at those kind of things. It's so easy to feel like defeated.
00:27:37:06 - 00:28:04:26
Wayne Mulder
It's so easy to feel like, well, these Richmond, north of Richmond, are control of everything and there's nothing I can do. It's so easy to say that, well, instead of holding criminals responsible, my politicians want to negotiate with them and create a treaty with the bad guys. And you just feel like, well, is my family even safe? Is the whole world's gone crazy and I just don't feel like there's nothing I can do and I'm just going to go hide under a rock somewhere.
00:28:04:28 - 00:28:34:18
Wayne Mulder
And yet a story like this comes out where one guy can just in a moment be kind to somebody and that moment can change the trajectory of their lives and the lives of others who hear that story. So that gave me hope, because that is the lesson here. No matter how chaotic this all gets, no matter what they were talking about last week at the debates, no matter who wins the election, who can you in your circle, who can you sit down and just smile at?
00:28:34:22 - 00:28:59:06
Wayne Mulder
Who can you shake their hand? You know, we talk about it all the time with new law enforcement officers, you know, just smiling and actually saying hi to the guy at the gas pump next to you. Right. What better opportunity to just show that human kindness because you never know who that other person is and maybe it's not going to blow up and you guys are going to be on Fox News and you're not going to make a financial difference in their life or in my life or anybody else's life for that matter.
00:28:59:09 - 00:29:22:11
Wayne Mulder
But you will make a difference in that person's life, that smile, that that moment of human connection. That's what this is all about. We we see all the divisiveness online and in culture and everything. And some of it needs to be called out and some of it is just absolutely atrocious and it cannot coexist. Two into one leaves.
00:29:22:11 - 00:29:41:28
Wayne Mulder
I get that. But to give you a little hope, there is still a foundation of good people and we need to be kind to one another, to our fellow man and to just simply, you know, two words, be human. That's what I want to leave you with this week. So I'll see you next Monday and morning roll call.
00:29:41:29 - 00:29:48:08
Wayne Mulder
I'll see you Thursday in the interview room. However, in the meantime, and as always, I'm going to see you out there on the blue line.
